HIV/AIDS Prevention Specialist
With Focus on Communities of Color

AIDS Network, the AIDS Service Organization for southern Wisconsin, seeks a full-time Prevention Specialist focusing on communities of color with emphasis on men of color who have sex with men. The professional position will: provide HIV harm reduction services throughout AIDS Network's 13 county service area targeting individuals within the African American and Latino communities at high risk of acquiring or transmitting HIV infection; lead support groups; provide general prevention services; provide HIV/Hepatitis C testing and counseling; facilitate clean syringe exchange; provide community outreach and education; collaborate with local organizations and governments; and other duties as assigned. Good starting salary ($27 -30k) and benefits.

Expectations and Qualifications include:

• Experience working with or knowledge of the issues facing men who have sex with other men.
• Strong familiarity with or experience working in minority communities
• Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and provide culturally sensitive services
• Comfort with issues of sexuality
• Ability to manage a flexible schedule including nights or weekends as needed
• Capacity to cultivate and maintain effective internal and external relationships
• Capability to provide effective outreach and education in the community
• Relevant education, work, or life experience considered
• Reliable transportation and valid driver's license required
• Bilingual in Spanish a plus.

HIV/AIDS Prevention Specialist

AIDS Network, the AIDS Service Organization of southern Wisconsin, seeks a half-time Prevention Specialist for its Rock County office. The position is based in Beloit, with travel throughout Rock County and neighboring counties. The professional position will provide HIV harm reduction services, targeting individuals at high risk of acquiring or transmitting HIV infection. This position also includes general prevention work, providing HIV and Hepatitis C testing and counseling, clean syringe exchange, assisting with services for HIV-positive people, and collaborating with local organizations that provide services to these high risk populations. 20 hours per week with good salary ($12-15k) and benefits.

Expectations and Qualifications include:
• Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and provide culturally sensitive services
• Comfort with issues of sexuality and substance abuse
• Capacity to maintain and establish effective relationships with internal and external service providers
• Strong communication, office, computer, and time management skills
• Capability to provide effective outreach and education in the community; network with community stakeholders; ability to represent the agency at community events and meetings; ability to be flexible
• Reliable transportation and valid driver license required
• Ability to maintain a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends as needed
• Bi-lingual a plus.
