HIV/AIDS Prevention Specialist With Focus on Communities of Color


AIDS Network, the AIDS Service Organization for southern Wisconsin, seeks a full-time Prevention Specialist focusing on communities of color with emphasis on men of color who have sex with men. This professional position will: provide HIV harm reduction services throughout AIDS Network's 13 county service area targeting individuals within the African American and Latino communities at high risk for acquiring or transmitting HIV infection; lead support groups; provide general prevention services; provide HIV/Hepatitis C counseling and testing; provide clean syringe exchange; collaborate with local organizations; provide community education and outreach; and other duties as assigned. Good starting salary ($27-30k) and benefits.

Expectations and Qualifications include:

  • Experience working with or knowledge of the issues facing men who have sex with men
  • Strong familiarity with or experience working in minority communities
  • Ability to work effectively with divers populations and provide culturally sensitive services
  • Comfort with issues of sexuality
  • Ability to manage a flexible work schedule including nights or weekends as needed
  • Capability to provide effective outreach and education in the community
  • Relevant education, work and/or life experience considered
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver's license required
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus
